Diver Recognition Level

TRAINING CREATES RECOGNITION

SSI is the only agency that recognizes Dive Leaders for reaching the 100, 500, 1000 and 5000 dive milestones. The SSI "Platinum Award Program" stands for excellence in the sport and loyalty to diving.

After completing all open water training and record keeping requirements, the SSI Dive Leader records the course on a "Certification Sign-Off" page in the Instructor DiveLog. Experience Points count toward Century, Gold 500, Platinum 1000 and Platinum Pro 5000 Instructor recognition ratings.

The Platinum Pro 5000 Instructor recognition level can only be reached by reaching 5000 or more experience points. Very few Dive Leaders have the privilege to be called SSI Platinum Pro 5000 Instructors, as it is the highest recognition level in diving. This group represents the "Who's Who" of the entire diving industry. Most are either recognized instructors, base leaders and/or facility owners are considered the ambassadors of diving.
